FIVE BUZZ WORDS

Before we get down to the nitty-gritty of how this site
might best serve people who stumble across it,
take time to consider the words

ESCAPE - CHALLENGE - ENDURANCE - SURVIVAL - RESTRAINT

What's in it for you?

ESCAPE
Escapologist Harry Houdini was a man who could always find a way out of (or around) whatever predicament he got himself into.

Risk-taking, physical challenge and suspense excite a lot of different human emotions, so Escape Artists always attract a crowd.
Why, exactly? Do people just like to watch somebody challenged or do they speculate on what it might feel like if it happened to them ...
or to be doing it to somebody else?
Working out how escapes are done ... and inventing ways of making restraint escape-proof excites a certain type of imagination.

Escape and Evasion exercises are military challenge events
designed to test men's abilities to the limit.
Wartime captivity and prison escape movie adventures
are a popular form of escapism.
'Escapism' is about taking time out from humdrum reality.
'Escapades' are often light-hearted pranks that
deliberately invite trouble.
CHALLENGE
In everyday life challenge can produce stress or provoke us to greater effort.
Physical challenge is often exhilarating. Some men find they don't get enough of it.
Is that because they're supposed to 'Grow out of' the need for physical
letting-off-steam?
Taking on a challenge (win or lose) produces adrenaline.
Are people who like to challenge others, and those who can't resist a challenge,
two sides of the same coin?
This site should encourage people who enjoy a dare - to risk
admitting what attracts them - and communicate with like-minded people -
even if only at a safe distance (Internet).
This site is for people who like to win but are not afraid to lose.
ENDURANCE
Physical challenge often involves endurance.
Houdini fought his way out of brutal strait-jackets, packing cases
submerged under water, jail cells and mummification in wet sheets.
When success/survival depends on skill, quick thinking and above all
physical stamina, it can give you a rush but at the same time be exhausting.
It can also be a very rewarding spectator sport.
Some people like to challenge themselves physically
either at the gym or in leisure activities - but often it needs the incentive of
teamwork in sports or the provocation of a well matched opponent
to generate the necessary energy.
This site explores different ways different people engineer themselves into endurance situations, or challenge other people to submit themselves
to similar self-testing.
SURVIVAL
In terms of struggle, whether with the elements or a well-matched opponent, this word is closely linked with endurance and challenge.
Survival Training, sometimes euphemistically called Adventure Training, very often involves experiencing intense discomfort, frustration, physical and mental stress and, occasionally, actual pain. And yet, a certain type of person often willingly submits himself to that sort of experience and finds it exhilarating - at least after it's over and they've survived it.
The natural instinct for survival kicks in at the
most unexpected moments - and we sometimes discover
things about ourselves we didn't know.
RESTRAINT
Showing restraint means holding things in, but physical restraint in the
Houdini challenge sense means pitting your wit / strength / stamina,
and either coming out on top ... or at least putting
up a damn good struggle.
Most men lack opportunities in real life for physical rough-and-tumble.
Boyhood games of Cops and Robbers, Cowboys and Indians were fantasies of
control and counter-control.
The idea of power-exchange games where physical control might be lost or won
are exciting to a CERTAIN SORT OF PERSON.

Physical restraint in the Erotic Bondage sense can be an art or a science.
It makes a lot of people very nervous.
Images of kinky sex and fetishism are a far cry from
the innocence of childhood adventure games or the instincts for survival that
stir when even token physical restrictions are imposed -
such as bandaging or plaster casts in a medical emergency.
Reduction of physical power can fire up all sorts of
unexpected intuitive responses.
There's lots to think about

STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION

The site already has over three hundred separate pages - and 2000 photos
Many of these 'topic' pages are still waiting to be edited and indexed ...
... and there's more material in my private files ...
so if you fail to find what you're looking for ... ask.

New material on-site is usually in response to feedback from site visitors
who find things which excite
their imaginations or natural curiosity.
