STRAIT-JACKET

Very basic but tough jacket hand-made from seriously rip-proof canvas.

Brass eyelets and tapes down the back are virtually finger-proof if properly tied.

Long tapes at the end of each sleeve-end allow for various configurations of wrapping: twice around the waist can be inhibiting; cinched around the waist and then both arms in front makes the jacket more secure. As an alternative, if the tape-ends are threaded around each elbow from behind, the jacket becomes a serious challenge.

In the Navy tradition, a couple of buckets of water thrown over it added to the jacket’s efficiency.

Condition: Stained through regular use but recently washed. Although short in the body, with no through-crotch fixing, when properly applied, the tape-ties down the back and at sleeve-ends are still capable of defeating even the most determined Escape Artist. After a struggle and sweat it’s often difficult to undo the knotted tapes before releasing the failed challenger.
Signs of wear and non-commercial manufacture - but a truly moody, fully functional, one-of-a-kind, hand-made-by-an-expert, garment.
Size: fits chest max ??
